Herliana is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University who obtained a certificate of mediator from the National Mediation Center (PMN).  She studied law and earned a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1998 from the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, then continued her Master of Commercial Law study program at the University of Melbourne, Australia.  Furthermore, Herliana completed her doctoral degree from the University of Washington School of Law, United States.

Herliana has a deep interest in and specialization in mediation and arbitration.   At the Faculty of Law of Gadjah Mada University, she teaches courses on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, as well as Health Dispute Resolution. In addition, Herliana teaches a Mediation in Medical Dispute course for the Postgraduate level at the Bioethics Study Program at Gadjah Mada University.

Herliana has taken and completed the arbitration competency exam organized by the Indonesian Institute of Arbitrators (Iarbi).  She is a board member of the Association of Lecturers and Practitioners of Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Herliana is an active speaker in various training on alternative dispute resolution. At every opportunity, Herliana encourages and promotes disputes resolution through mediation.

As a Certified Mediator, Herliana focuses on the following:

  • Contract disputes
  • Medical disputes
  • Consumer protection
