Widhi Nugraha was born in Yogyakarta and obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.  During his studies at the Faculty of Law, Widhi joined the student activity of nature enthusiasts, which raised his attention and empathy for nature conservation and environmental problems, especially advocacy for vulnerable community groups who were disadvantaged.

Raising the issue of international environmental law in his thesis, after graduating from the Faculty of Law, Widhi worked for a non-governmental organization that focuses on the field of environmental law, namely the Indonesian Centre for Environmental Law (ICEL) in Jakarta.  That is when he was encouraged to pursue a career as a lawyer.  After taking the legal practice exam in 2001, he obtained a license as a practicing lawyer in 2002, whose work area covers the entire territory of the Republic of Indonesia. He joined PERADI in 2004 and has earned the Advocate title ever since.

Around 2002, Widhi returned to Yogyakarta and started working as a lawyer at a law firm that prioritizing idealism and honesty’s value in legal practice.  From this office, he understood the critical importance of integrity. He became a skilled lawyer, dedicated to upholding the noble profession of advocacy as an Officium Nobile.

Subsequently, he worked with several law firms, including one of the leading law firms in Yogyakarta which specializes in business law and engages with varies reputable companies as clients.

He found his passion as a litigator in court by working with aforementioned law firms.  During his experience as an advocate, Widhi has handled various cases ranging from:

  • Family law cases, including cases of dissolution of marriage, marital property, and guardianship

  • Intellectual Property rights disputes

Known for his modest and anti-mainstream appearance, Widhi spends his free time reading books by Robert Arthur Jr., Agatha Christie, and Arthur Conan Doyle, which influences his interest in studying forensic psychology, an approach in analyzing legal cases.
